Ask the Experts

Q: I'm trying to commission a new pipeline, but I can’t pass the hydrostatic pressure test. How can Pure Technologies help?

Pure Technologies has established a tremendous track record in helping contractors to get a troublesome pipeline to pass a hydrostatic pressure test. The Sahara® Leak Location system has a special configuration that allows it to be drawn through the pipeline with a high-strength pull tape, allowing these ultra-sensitive inspections to be performed while a pipe is pressurized but out of service.Sahara® can pinpoint even the smallest leaks that can cause failure of a pressure test to within inches in real time, allowing for immediate and precise repair.

The biggest challenge with these inspections is often running the pull tape through the pipe after a failed pressure test, hence Pure Technologies recommends installing pull tape in new pipelines in advance of the pressure test as a precaution. This allows for rapid inspection in the event of a pressure test failing, and lets you ensure that your pipeline can be commissioned before delay penalties ensue.
