Sewer Force Main Case Studies

Baltimore County - Sewer Force Main Assessment

As part of Baltimore County, Maryland’s Wastewater Force Main Asessment Program, Pure Technologies inspected the 54-inch Patapsco PCCP Force Main using the SmartBall® and PipeDiver® pipeline assessment tools.

Calgary - Force Main Structural Assessment

The City of Calgary is currently planning to reverse the flow direction of two critical wastewater force mains in the city. A critical part of the study is to collect structural condition information on the pipelines and then use that information to assess the structural capacity.

Grand Forks Wasterwater Authority - Sewer Force Main Assessment

In late October 2008, the Grand Forks Wastewater Authority (Authority) located in Grand Forks; North Dakota initiated a project to conduct a condition assessment of an 8.8 mile 30- and 36-inch wastewater force main.

Muskegon County - Sewer Force Main Assessment

In 2007, Muskegon County’s 35-year old large diameter wastewater force main failed catastrophically. Although historical data demonstrated that joint leakage had never contributed to previous events, extensive failure analysis of this event by Prein & Newhof, determined that a leaking joint had played a significant role in the failure.

City of Sault Ste. Marie - Pressure Monitoring

The condition assessment project consisted of a Sahara pipeline inspection to detect any leaks or pockets of trapped gas on the lines, as well as a period of pressure transient monitoring on each pipeline to check for any sudden peaks or drops in the pressures which could be damaging to the lines.
