IT Support – Operations, North America and Libya Project Support

The long term monitoring of Pure Technologies bridges, structures and pipelines is dependent upon continual support from IT. The IT function for on-going operational support is vital in ensuring site functionality and effective operations in order to provide timely wire break or other site related activity to our clients.
Pure is seeking a highly motivated individual to provide IT support for our Libya operations from our Calgary office, with periodic travel to our Libya office in Ajdabiya, in conjunction with our technical support and monitoring of the Man-Made River Project (MRA). The Man-Made River Project in Libya is one of the world’s largest water projects. Phase I of the project includes over 1500km of four-meter diameter pipeline carrying water from aquifers under the Sahara Desert to the populated coastal regions. Over the past 10 years in Libya, Pure has delivered multiple technologies and currently monitors over 400km of the pipeline with its SoundPrint® system. Specific Responsibilities
- Provide support for our MRA Project in Libya
- Contribute as a functioning member of the IT Operations group in Calgary
- Plan, Deploy, Maintain Network Infrastructure
- Plan, Deploy, Maintain Server Infrastructure
- Plan, Deploy, Maintain Backup Strategies
- Maintain, Manage, Support – Existing Wireless Backbone
- Maintain, Manage, Support - Windows 2003 and 2008 Servers
- Maintain, Manage, Support – Symantec Antivirus, SQL 2005/2008, IIS 6.0/7.5
- Maintain, Manage, Support – Internal Applications
- Remote Monitoring including On-Call Support
- Providing End-User Support
- Assist IT Operations in Remote Support and current Operations Initiatives
- Quarterly to semi-annual site visits (in Libya), or as required
- Coordination with the client’s IT department as required
Required Skills
- Networking – Fundamental knowledge to plan, deploy and maintain both inter and intra office connectivity
- Strong knowledge of Cisco routers
- Strong Knowledge of Windows Server Environments (2003, 2008)
- Strong Knowledge for Operating Systems (Windows 2000/XP/2003/2008, Linux Server/Workstation
- Intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft business products such as SQL, IIS, Exchange and Hyper-V
- Familiar with backup Technologies
- Familiar with ghosting Technologies
- Familiar with RAID Configurations
- Knowledge of Support Tools (Remote, Disk, Recovery)
- Ability to work alone and with a team
- Held accountable for all IT activities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- able to prioritize and task driven
- effective time management and organization
Minimum Education and Work Experience
- Network Communications or Information Technology Diploma / Degree from a Technical College or University, or related degree and experience.
- At least 3-5 years’ relevant experience in configuring Networks from Routers, Switches to Servers. (Fibre and Wireless Experience would be an asset)
